Great episode this week with a nice review of their crafting experiences.  Really enjoyed the interview with mightBob, regarding the STO Gear Upgrade Table.  It was a resource we referred to several times in the the process to verify some of our results.

At the end of the day the infographic was a catalyst in starting a discussion over the costs of DR upgrades in general, and one I think most agree is way to large to be viable for multi-alt players.

A few notes for clarity:

The last entry on the infographic was a reference to someone who purchased the Operations Pack, hence the reason for the excessive total Zen costs.  It should not have been included in the original infographic as it was completely out of the scope for an average grinding F2P player.

We too were very surprised when all of a sudden there was a crafting materials weekend dropped into the calendar at the last minute.  I do believe feedback in the podcasts, here, in the forums and on Reddit played a role.

We didn’t make clearly enough that the infographic was for a single player, with a single toon that had gear already from REP and XII VR gear.  Many people got this, but for some their first reaction was disbelief.  Others felt we had nt gone far enough.

One regret we had with the infographic was that it was difficult to express why even with crafting, a casual player doing normals would still have to expend significant EC to buy materials needed for crafting superior upgrades, especially when their number is in the hundreds per toon.  Distilling this was a significant challenge.

We’re distilling down the infographic to basic crafting.  How many successful runs of what ‘event’ to make enough single Superior Upgrades by weapon, console and gear piece.
