  1. Part Three, Question One: Everyone uses Photoshop.

    Part Four, Question One: Unwrapping.

Question Two: I know I’m in a minority here, but: Lib Borg. That’d be just too fun.

    1. Ack, I missed that Part Three’s second question was different. My go-to ship, hmm… that’s actually a really tough one because I like mixing it up so much. I’m gonna say the Guardian for Fed, the Aelahl for Rom, and the Qib for KDF. I like cruisers 🙂

Question One: What tool does everyone use?
    ZBrush
    3D Studio Max
    Photoshop

Question Two: Which ship is your ‘go-to’ ship – the one ship you enjoy the most?
    Luna-class Reconnaissance Science Vessel

Question One: What is the name of the tedious process used to define details on the skin?
    UVW Unwrapping

Question Two: What faction would you like to see added to Star Trek Online?
I’m rather happy with what we have and don’t really want more

    Q1: Photoshop!
Q2: The Sovereign-class. It may not have a T6 version (yet!) but I just love this puppy. My favorite Canon design.

    Part 4
    Q1: Unwrapping
Q2: Cardassian…but only if Andrew Robinson is on hand to do the promotion VOs and other little announcements like that (which means Cryptic better hurry!)

  5. This one is for the week three part….
    Question 1: EVERYONE uses Photoshop

Question 2: I prefer carriers like nobody’s business. Full carriers, escort carriers, flight deck cruisers, whatever. Since I play all three factions, there is only one that can be considered a “go to” carrier, the Breen Sarr Theln Carrier! I just started half-way through the winter even last year and managed to grind that one with hours to spare. It was my first t6 ship and will always hold a special place in my heart.

    1. For the week four post…
Question one: The process is called “Unwrapping” which seems counter intuitive since it goes all around the ship….

Question 2: Um, I really would prefer more expansion of the existing factions than new factions to get half completed. Adding in races like Ferengi for all factions (win), PC androids, Cardassians, etc. Also bits of dialogue that make it seem like your race has more of an effect on the story like when Reman captains deal with Obisek and stuff like that. The factions in end-game especially seem like they have little or no effect on missions and I don’t think adding a new faction would help that at all.

PS: In week three, didn’t Thomas say that *not* everyone uses 3D Max and Z-Brush, but then in week four he makes it sound like he said they all do use 3D Max? O_o

(My first one can count as Part 4’s answer, since I got a response to my community question answer there)

  7. 3.1 Everyone uses Photoshop.
3.2 The Mogh-class cruiser. Just a wonderful ship, IMO.

    4.1 It’s called unwrapping.
4.2 Before new factions, what I would want is more differentiation between play styles as various existing races. So for instance, some manner of material that makes playing as a Vulcan different from an Andorian or a human. Ditto for the KDF.

  8. Week Three:
    Question 1: Photoshop
Question 2: Icarus class pilot escort, however I like to use different styles of ships on my other toons such as carriers.

    Week Four:
    Question 1: Unwrapping
Question 2: I think a liberated borg faction would be tons of fun, I would also like to see Romulans completely separated from the other two factions and be more stand alone.

  9. Week Three:
    1.) Photoshop
    2.) Defiant – can’t wait for a T6.

    Week Four:
    1.) Unwrapping
2.) Cardassians, I suppose. Borg would be fun, but only as a weird mini-faction with every single available SF, KDF and RRF race available to choose and ‘borgify.’ Honestly, though? I’m still waiting for the Romulan faction to have the damned Suliban added. 😦

  10. Part 4:
    Question 1: “Unwrapping”
Question 2: Haven’t really thought about this before…Lib borg would be interesting…Breen faction maybe? I mean we already have some ships, but storywise it would be difficult to implement, without ruining their mystery.

  11. Week 3:
    Question 1: Photoshop
Question 2: Eclipse Intel Cruiser. It’s got a combination of the ability to build it in multiple ways effectively with several features not normally found in a big cruiser, namely the high turnrate, cloak, and Intel active sensors. I always seem to end up back in it even after using other ships — only the Avenger/Arbiter comes close.

  12. Week 4:
    Question 1: Unwrapping
Question 2: There aren’t too many options left for a faction that wouldn’t break the existing game setup. Of these, I’d probably pick Cardassian, as that would also give a good reason to further develop the Alpha Quadrant, which already feels kind of sparse and is probably going to be even worse come season 11 (with all of the old Cardassian arc episodes disappearing).

  13. Part 3, Question #1: Photoshop

Part 3, Question #2: It’s a real toss-up between the Tactical Pilot Escort and the Starfleet Dreadnought Cruiser. The Pilot Escort is tons of fun, but the Dreadnought was the first ship I bought in the C-Store, so it has a special place in my heart.

  14. Part 4, Question #1: Unwrapping

Part 4, Question #2: Honestly, I think Cardassians are inevitable at this point, but I would also love a playable Dominion faction. I mean with Odo in the Great Link, they may be less hostile and therefore more functional as a faction in STO.

  18. Part Four:

Q1 – Name of the tedious process to define skin details? Unwrapping

Q2 – What faction would I like to see added to STO? I’d like the Neu Romulans to become their own full faction, rather than a sub-faction of Fed/KDF. You could even have it happen as a story line at L50 or somewhere, or L60 post-Iconian as they cement their independence.
I don’t know that we need any more half-factions, like I feel Cardassians or Borg-lite would be.

    Question 1: Unwrapping
Question 2: That’s tough. I’m pretty happy with the factions that are there. I guess if I had to pick, it’d be a time traveling faction. I know the details would be weird to work out, but a clandestine faction wonking around with the timelines sounds neat.

    1.) Unwrapping (aka u-v-mapping)
2.) The Cardassians. They are the only major power left, that isn’t properly represented and I think they have a lot of potential depth for interesting stories. Also Garak is my favorite DS9 character and I’m very curious what happened to him.

Question 2: Tzenkethi. They were only mentioned through DS9, but I believe STO would do an amazing job bringing them to life, just as they have done with the Elachi – in my opinion, Star Trek Online’s best villians. I’d love to be able to play as one.

Question 2: I’d like to see the devs fully flesh out the Romulans… New Romulus capital city, more species to choose from in that faction… but as far as a NEW faction, I’d love to see the Ferengi as their own faction, complete with Ferenginar and the Tower of Commerce and the sacred market place. Instead of shooting stuff your sole purpose is to acquire profit and move up the financial ranks… it would be so different than what we have currently!

Question 2: My current go-to ship is the Ferengi T6 Nandi from the summer event. For a free ship, I was suprised at how well it flew to my liking as an escort/destroyer type ship. It matches my playstyle for tactical captain in escort really well.

    Part 4:
    Question 1: Unwrapping
Question 2: I would still probably have to go for the Cardassians. They seem to be the most likely choice for another faction if people wanted another race/faction from the Alpha Quadrant with lots of references to Star Trek TV series. Other potential races/factions may have very little to draw on from Star Trek Canon.
