“What we have here is a failure to communicate…”

Cryptic is in dire need of some social media assistance, or at a bare minimum a marketing team that understands it’s own products. A few hours ago images were released of a new class of Starship – the Pathfinder Class. It’s a damn fine-looking ship.  I actually want one without even knowing what it’s all about.  It’s that good looking. The combination Twitter and Facebook … Continue reading “What we have here is a failure to communicate…”

Thanks to Priority One Podcast for including the DR Costs Infographic.

Priority One Episode 198 | Craftacular http://priorityonepodcast.com/po198/ Great episode this week with a nice review of their crafting experiences.  Really enjoyed the interview with mightBob, regarding the STO Gear Upgrade Table.  It was a resource we referred to several times in the the process to verify some of our results. At the end of the day the infographic was a catalyst in starting a discussion … Continue reading Thanks to Priority One Podcast for including the DR Costs Infographic.

Infographic: Costs of Upgrading in Delta Rising

Update: we’ve added a disclaimer regarding EC costs as Cryptic has lowered the R&D material requirements for crafting.  The number of upgrades and the dilithium costs remain unchanged.  A revised graphic is underway. The following infographic is designed as an overview of the costs associated with Delta Rising.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the initial survey that enabled the creation of this graphic. If … Continue reading Infographic: Costs of Upgrading in Delta Rising

Even on Facebook, Star Trek Online Can’t Escape the problems they’re having

It’s hard to escape that the player base is unhappy with the current changes with Star Trek Online.  Disconnections,  server inconsistencies, loadout issues, and the general lack of players in the queues – not to mention the astronomical costs for updating your toons. Welcome to the new reality. Continue reading Even on Facebook, Star Trek Online Can’t Escape the problems they’re having

Thankyou! Data Analysis Underway.

Thanks to everyone who assisted in providing upgrade data!  We now have 31 players providing upgrade examples for 92 ‘complete’ upgrades in terms of costs and results. Infographic underway 😉 So far the only real surprise are the Experimental Superior Upgrades which are not having the results promised, with zero critical results from 276 upgrades.  That is far less than you’d expect for normal ‘superior’ … Continue reading Thankyou! Some Good News about STO. CrypticFrost is on the job, and the loadout issue may actually be fixed. Soon.

Communication has improved, although the changes hinted at are slow to come.  For the moment, I’m cautious. One major glitch that seems to be effecting players in various ways are the load-out failures.  For me it’s intermittent, jumping back ad forth to old builds I no longer support.  For some it’s batteries and consumables disappearing. It just kills what little joy there is in the … Continue reading Some Good News about STO. CrypticFrost is on the job, and the loadout issue may actually be fixed. Soon.

#STO – Proving that the game isn’t fun for the casual player anymore

Changes to the queues while altering everything from the difficulty to the awards given has driven a large chunk of the Star Trek Online’s community away.  The crew at Cryptic realize this and seem to be trying to find ways to effectively mend fences. “Delta Rising is the most successful launch in Star Trek Online’s history”. This weekend, the dead queues tell a much different … Continue reading #STO – Proving that the game isn’t fun for the casual player anymore

Doffing & Database Response Times

One of the reasons I suspect why they’ve slowed certain response times (Exchange, Doffing), and rolled back traits to 8 (9 if you’re a Fleet Admiral) is that we’re overwhelming the server.  Too many of us doing the the same thing at the same time. The exchange during the first few days of any update is a prime example. One area that drives me and … Continue reading Doffing & Database Response Times

Dividing the Community, one parse at a time.

One of the unforeseen consequences that came with Delta Rising was the radical leap forward in damage potential with weapons upgrades and abilities. For most players this was supposed to be a long-term project.  Upgrades to weapons and gear sets are ridiculously expensive in dilithium and EC if you’re not able make your own upgrades. R&D give you the ability to make the upgrades possible, but … Continue reading Dividing the Community, one parse at a time.
